Norman Leslie, Chief Investment Officer
Norman Leslie has over 35 years’ experience in the lodging industry, starting as a front desk representative and working his way up through the business. He has acquired, developed or operated dozens of hotels in his career. In 2000, he founded National Hospitality Services (NHS), which currently manages 25 hotels nationwide. NHS-managed hotels have been recognized as leaders within their brands for operating performance, quality and service. Norm serves on several community and industry boards, and earned a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Honours) from the University of Manitoba.
Corey Maple Chairman & CEO
Corey Maple has spent his career starting, building and selling companies, starting with purchasing Maier Engineering in 1993 from its founder while leading a ten-fold growth in revenue. In 1996 he founded MiniMax, Inc., an automation and engineering tools provider to the electric utility industry. By 2006, after merging with Powel ASA, he helped take the combined company public. As a Powel board member, he subsequently helped engineer the sale to a public industrial conglomerate. Corey has been a successful CEO, board member and professional investor in a number of other enterprises. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from North Dakota State University, is married and has two rambunctious children
Sam Montgomery Chief Operations Officer
Sam Montgomery oversees all business operations for Legendary Capital. He is a certified public accountant (North Dakota, Florida and Tennessee) with more than a decade of experience serving asset managers in the REIT and private equity sectors. Prior to joining the company, he was a business advisor with Ernst & Young, LLP and PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration-Accounting from the University of Miami and a Master of Taxation from Nova Southeastern University.
Katie Cox Chief Financial Officer
Katie Cox is responsible for the overall management of accounting, external reporting, financial planning, and treasury for Legendary Capital. She is a certified public accountant with over ten years of public accounting experience. Before joining our team, she was a Senior Manager with Deloitte & Touche in Phoenix, Arizona, where she served real estate and broker dealer clients. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration-Accounting from North Dakota State University.
Dave Durell Chief Acquisitions Officer
David Durell oversees the property acquisition process. As a licensed attorney (Michigan, North Dakota, and Wisconsin), he spent the last ten years as a Partner at the Grand Rapids, MI based firm, durellaw PLC, a firm specializing in business, real-estate, and finance law. David has been involved with acquisitions for the past several years as real estate counsel for the Company and its affiliates, helping them navigate each transaction with his expertise and keen attention to detail. David will continue to guide the team through transactions with a streamlined process, enabling the Company to continue making sound acquisition decisions. David earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Grand Valley State University, his Masters of Science degree from Ferris State University, and Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, graduating Cum Laude. A Grand Rapids, MI native, he and his family live in East Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Chris Kilcullen Senior Vice President Acquisitions
Chris Kilcullen joined us following 25 years of hospitality industry experience, including a distinguished career as a Wyndham development executive. Chris is responsible for managing opportunity identification, underwriting, due diligence and deal flow. He also gained unique perspective as a business owner after opening and operating two restaurants in historic downtown Frisco, Texas, learning much about market challenges and the need to pivot quickly with changing conditions. His passion for business, skill for identifying opportunities, trusted relationships and industry knowledge brings a unique set of skills to Legendary Capital and its stakeholders.
Diana Beitelspacher Senior Vice President Marketing
Diana Beitelspacher brings more than 25 years of executive leadership and business development experience to our team. She came to us having previously served as CEO of the North Dakota Soybean Council. Diana also served as Director of Marketing and Communications for AgCountry Farm Credit Services where she worked to establish brand identity in the market place and blending of employees, culture and best practices following two company mergers. She earned her Master of Arts degree from North Dakota State University and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Norwich University.
